The Bralorne Gold Mine selected Aria FAST mobile water treatment system from Aria Filtra™ to rapidly treat excess water and meet stringent discharge requirements.
The Challenge
Shortly after Avino Silver & Gold Mines acquired the Bralorne mine in 2014, the mine needed to be shut down due to a high water event and tailings storage freeboard concerns. The mine would be under construction, and temporary water storage for drainage would not be available during the construction. The mine site already had a media filtration system in place, but needed a faster, more affordable, and reliable solution that could handle the impending challenging waters.
The Solution
The mine’s initial media filtration system became very costly in replacing media and had a low flow capacity. To determine a more robust solution, Avino brought on engineering firm Tetra Tech, who suggested our Aria FAST mobile membrane treatment system to replace its underperforming media filter and to bring the mine one step closer to becoming operational and efficient.
The Results
The quick response and deployment of our fully integrated Aria FAST unit allowed the gold mine to rapidly treat excess water in order to meet stringent environmental discharge requirements and prepare the mine for production. The Aria FAST unit now allowed mine to handle construction challenges, remove contaminants, and protect local waters.
