Power Plant Exceeded Demineralization Water Requirements Using Integrated Membrane Systems

Aria Filtra quickly delivered mobile water treatment containers to a large European power plant that required a stable, high-quality water source.
The challenge
A large European power plant needed a reliable source of water to feed the existing demineralization unit. The original supply was from conventionally treated groundwater, but that could not provide a stable, high-quality treated water source. The plant required a more abundant water source with a treatment technology that was reliable and met stringent water quality requirements. Further, the plant needed a solution in a short turnaround time.
The solution
To solve water supply challenges, the power plant utilized water from an adjacent river, the Meuse. This source water has variable organic load and suspended solids due to seasonal variation. Aria Filtra® solved this problem by using two Aria FAST mobile membrane units consisting of low-pressure membranes and one reverse osmosis (RO) unit. These mobile, integrated membrane systems allow the plant to deliver treated water that is stable and high quality.
The results
The fully integrated Aria FAST system treats the river water for biological and organic control and the removal of all particulate matter. The Aria FAST RO containers work in conjunction with three preexisting RO containers on-site to deliver high-quality water with low levels of dissolved salts and organics at a total permeate flow. The speed of this deployment saved the customer from a potential costly shutdown procedure. After three years of long-term rental, the customer purchased the units and invested in Aria™ CARE, which extends the Aria Filtra service team to the site for annual maintenance and process optimization of the mobile units.
